In this commentary you can find useful information regarding your holidays in Cuba. Along many years I have been given counsel to tourists willing to visit Cuba so I decided to recapitulate some of them. I wish you find them practical.

Health service in Cuba is free but not for tourists so make sure you are properly insured before you travel to Cuba otherwise you will have to fork out a good amount of money from your own pocket if you require medical attention. I have to add that the health service in Cuba is of a very high standard.

The best government owned restaurants are La Bodeguita del Medio, El Floridita, El Aljibe, Los Nardos, El Template, La Domenica, La Mina, El Patio and Mediterraneo this last restaurant is located on the lobby of Parque Central Hotel and it serves gourmet food.

If you are on a budget a good way to move around the island is by bus. There is only one company that offer this service and is called VIAZUL. Their fleet of coaches is in very good conditions and they connect each and every province in Cuba.

Avoid haggling with taxi drivers. All official taxis in Cuba have a taxi metre and you will be surprised how cheap a taxi is. If you instead ask a taxi driver how much is in advance most chances are you are going to be over charged. Just make sure the taxi driver uses the taxi metre.

If you are thinking of buying cigars get them from a government shop their quality is supreme but they are a bit expensive. Prices are from 100.00 CUC to 400.00 CUC for a box of 25 cigars. If you buy them in the black market you can find the same boxes fro 25.00 CUC to 100 CUC but most of them are cigars rejected by the quality control of the factories.

Visit Tropicana Cabaret. This is the most famous show in Cuba. Even if you are not a cabaret person you will be amazed with the quality of its choreographies, the skill of the dancers and definitely the sexiness and sensuality of the men and women that performed every night under the stars.

If you want to visit Tropicana Cabaret in Havana try to book well in advance this place although is huge it is always fully booked. The tickets are expensive but the show is worth every penny of your money.

Try out the Paladares, these are private restaurants located in someone's house. They have a reduced number of tables but their cuisine is probably better than any of the fancy restaurants owned by the Government. The most famous Paladar is La Guarida. - 31819
